I was born in New York City and raised in Long Island. After graduating high school, I attended college for two years. I then moved to Boston and enrolled in a graduate program at MIT. I completed my PhD in 2012. I live in Washington, D.C. with my wife and daughter.
I’m a little over 2 years from Boston, and I’m pretty much at home in Washington, D.C.
I have a degree in computer science from MIT. I also have a master’s degree in neuroscience, a bachelors in psychology, and a doctorate in computer science. I am also a licensed psychologist and have been working in the field of applied cognitive psychology for over 20 years.
What am I doing now? Well, I’m a professor of applied neuropsychology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. I teach courses in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and neuropsychology. I also teach a graduate course, Cognitive Neuroscience: Biomedical and Clinical Applications, to help scientists gain a better understanding of how the brain works. I have written nearly 20 books on the intersection of neuroscience and psychology.
I am an author, a blogger, a lecturer, a contributor for several scientific journals, and an award-winning journalist. I have also been honored with a number of research grants and awards from the National Institutes of Health.
In this video you’ll see me speaking with my son who is a psychology teacher, who is now a business consultant and who would like to continue to focus on his family’s work in helping people in his field. I hope you’ll be able to catch me anytime, anywhere, without being interrupted by my voice.
I was born in New York City to a doctor and a lawyer. I moved to New York at the age of nine. By my thirties I realized I loved writing and teaching. I moved to New Orleans in my early fifties to be closer to my children, but also to work in the private sector.
And that’s where I currently reside.
I’ve got a couple years of college but I’m still making use of my time at work to help people. You can find more info on my blog at www.pamosoliver.com.
